Sometimes I talk to myself. Ok, a lot of times. In my head mostly, but aloud in the car, if I’m alone. I’m not crazy, at least not by clinical definitions. I'm a firm believer in what you put into the universe will return to you. It sounds so simple and a tad bit overly optimistic, but it works for good and bad. Every day I coach myself through with affirmations. Positive thoughts and affirmations have changed my life in ways no one could understand.
Affirmations work on the power of the tongue. First you speak positivity into existence. Then you start to believe those words. Ultimately you will fulfill the affirmation. Your mind isn’t able to distinguish what is real or fantasy. So by constantly implanting positive or negative things in your mind, your mind will believe it, and you will subconsciously begin to reinforce those thoughts. From a very young age we've been shaped by those around us telling us who and what we are and what we're capable of. Others have shaped our reality. Affirmations in turn give you control over how you would like your life to be. By repeating positive affirmations, you are retraining your mind.
For the month of August I want to share an affirmation with you daily. In order for affirmations to work, you have to believe in the power of your mind and be receptive of change.
Live. Love. Action
- Note one of your negative qualities (be honest with yourself)
- Write one affirmation that will negate the negative using your positive qualities (Ex. I am worthy of change and I accept my journey)
- Recite the affirmation daily for five minutes a day.
